Connecting People, Villages, Towns and Centres into Pacifica City. Also MONORAIL
Monorail, metro, tram, roads, cycle lanes, transit-oriented developments, industry, all city builders’ dreams needing to be reality. So, let’s get ready for Part 5 – Papatoetoe, where the first transit-oriented development or TOD will occur! Also, a ride on the MONORAIL!
Transit Oriented Developments
My normal style of gameplay in Cities Skylines 1 and 2 is the urban island composite model. That is establish Centres around transit hubs as we will see in Papatoetoe, connecting them up all together by the transit network. This allows people to live local, and have local basic amenities nearby (often in walking, cycling or bus reach). BUT if the need arises, cross-city commuting via transit is also available (e.g to the City Centre, a large Metropolitan Centre, or an industrial complex.
While Pacific City is still young at <25,000 cims, seeing the interconnected villages that will make the city might be a bit hard to see. But as Papatoetoe matures, and I move on to the next TOD (Orewa, plus the barebones for the City Centre), the urban geography of Pacifica City will become apparent.
So strap on in as we develop Pacifica City’s first transit oriented development. Followed with a trip on the MONORAIL!
