Getting under the hood of Ben’s urban creations In the first of three specials with Waikato, I take a tour of Waikato Gardens while explaining urban concepts. Waikato Gardens was built as part of Waikato 5.2 to support the metals and concrete industries, but was not extensively covered in that video. Urban Planning, Urban Design, […]

Industrial Expansion of Waikato Continues Bob the Builder can he build it? Well he certainly can’t if we don’t have the concrete and steel to build with available. Nor can we get consumer products including electronics and cars. So we better set up the mines and quarries, build those steel and concrete plants, line up […]

Industry powers the city while I need 13,000 new working residents for Waikato The Drill Baby Drill MAGA and Shane Jones bravado aside, resources and subsequent industry are often the primary reason cities are founded, live, and sometimes die (if the resource is depleted or deindustrialisation went horridly wrong and urban renewal did not happen […]

No endless business cases, no political partisan pontification, no dithering apart from a fast growing city catching me a tad short. Reblogged this on Talking Southern Auckland and commented:
It is highly frowned upon by the Planning and Engineering Institutes in New Zealand yet is Standard Operating Practice in the Northern Hemisphere whether it be used as a educational tool in High Schools and Universities or as a communication tool by Public Authorities.
Yet despite it being frowned up in New Zealand this fellow Spatial Planner and Urban Geographer has registered himself for the Cities Skylines Cities in a Snap!
What is Cities in a Snap? CIAS is where Cities Skylines players from all round the world come together to compete in who can build the best functional city in two hours – no more – no less.
Winners go through to the finals series where you can become Grand Champion.
There have been outstanding creations so far and all functional in the Cities In a Snap competitions. As I said I have registered myself down into hopefully the March qualifying rounds.
More once the details and contestants are confirmed!
What is frowned upon in NZ is a part of a major community overseas.
