Going Places with the City Centre. Manukau Ranges. A #CitiesSkylines2 Story. Part 3.x

Planning and Building the Centerpiece of Manukau Ranges – the City Centre

This city is built using the Volchoria Map from ‪@paradoxinteractive‬ Mods: Volchoria Map

Each blog post will contain either:

  • The standard X.X series where I undertake City Building along with talking Planning Methodology.
  • The Manukau Rides X.X series where I jump on the transit system and travel around. Often used to see where problems might occur best seen at ground level.

Going Places with the City Centre: From Methodology to Letting the Cims and Businesses in. Manukau Ranges 3.x

With the housing shortage ongoing, and businesses chomping at the bit to move in, it is time to get serious and build the core of Manukau Ranges. It is time to go places with the City Centre!

I also talk about Planning methodology which lead to a post on the sister site: The Very Definition of Planning Complexity.

Manukau Way, and Manukau Riverside would also be built to support the City Centre, and city as a whole. Manukau Way with the University of Manukau, and Manukau Riverside serving as a Sport and Recreation hub!

Let’s dive in 3.x and see the City Centre and surrounds come to life!

Overview and Development of the City Centre | Manukau Ranges 3.0 | #citiesskylines2

More of a methodology video: The City Centre might be under development but deliberate choices were made regarding the transport network around the central station, an accompanying metro station, and the tram/bus mall!

What we plan has consequences to the Spatial Form, and accompanying behaviours! It also has consequences…

In 3.0 I give an overview following:

  1. Development of the City Centre that was done offscreen 2
  2. What I am trying to achieve with the City Centre in terms of 24/7 economy in terms of infrastructure
  3. Who I am trying to attract and why
  4. How to attract those residents, businesses and tourists using the Signature Buildings, and Leisure venues
  5. Miscellaneous tidbits in preparation of 3.1

Note: The Simulator will be on pause until 3.3.
