Transit Oriented Development = Money where mouth is | Pacifica City, Part 5. #CitiesSkylines

Part 5: Transit Oriented Development Time in Pacifica City. And yes, that is still a monorail line!

Time for Pacifica City to grow up. Well technically grow up as the City grows out towards the City Centre.

Now to avoid the problem of car-centric based planning, I am planning to engage in my usual standard operating procedure of building urban islands around transit hubs, connecting them up with rapid transit lines. These rapid transit lines then form the rapid transit network (RTN) and form the bones and primary arteries of the city for which the urban development comes off. The rapid transit being: Monorail, Metro Rail, Heavy Rail, and Bus Rapid Transit. These rapid transit modes are then supported by a Frequent Transit Network (the secondary arteries, and veins) made up of buses (with bus lanes) and light rail.

As for those transit hubs supporting the urban islands? Welcome to Transit Oriented Developments where the spatial form centres around that transit hub. And this is what we do in Part 5 with establishing our first TOD called Papatoetoe!

Time to go TOD, with a monorail line

In the video and pictures you will see where the first three TOD’s are planned by following the monorail towards the city centre. Papatoetoe is the first TOD being built. In some cases I might specialise a TOD area with the District Styles and Policies. I will cover those as I do them respectively.

Papatoetoe, Pacifica City’s first TOD.
