Ben Tours His Urban Creation | Waikato Special – Part 1 | #citiesskylines

Getting under the hood of Ben’s urban creations

In the first of three specials with Waikato, I take a tour of Waikato Gardens while explaining urban concepts. Waikato Gardens was built as part of Waikato 5.2 to support the metals and concrete industries, but was not extensively covered in that video.

Urban Planning, Urban Design, Transport Planning, and Urban Geography all covered as we explore Waikato’s largest district and metropolitan centre!

As noted in the video, Waikato Gardens has the largest of the currently three Metropolitan Centres, and is the largest district outside of the City Centre itself. The Metropolitan Centre serves as a civic, commercial and office base on the western side of the Waikato River (given the main civic centres are on the eastern side). Depending on later development Waikato Gardens could house the second smaller City Centre to support the sub region. Much like the real life Manukau does with Auckland!

One to watch as the Waikato Series continues.

Mini Series:

  • Part 1: Touring Waikato Gardens
  • Part 2: Expanded Policies giving more realism to City administration
  • Part 3: Transit Planning using Transit Timetables Mod
